You drive a family member who has a disability parking placard. It hangs from the rearview mirror while you are parked in a reserved space. What should you do with it before you drive away?
From a parked car’s driver area, a blue disability parking placard hangs below the rearview mirror and blocks part of the windshield view. The card states that the car is in a reserved space and the driver is about to leave.
Correct answer: Take it off the mirror, and hang it again only when you park.
Why
Pennsylvania law forbids objects hung from the rearview mirror, or placed on the windshield, that block the driver's view through the windshield. Even a small object can hide a pedestrian or a car at an intersection. Before you drive, adjust the seat and mirrors, and clear ice, snow and loose items from the windshield area.
