Freeways & High-Speed RoadsStandalone practice
Rain has reduced visibility and made the freeway slippery. How should you adjust your driving?
Correct answer: Reduce speed to suit the conditions and leave more following space.
Why
Reduce freeway speed when weather, visibility or road conditions are not ideal. Keep searching well ahead and allow more time and space to respond. On wet or slippery surfaces, SGI calls for a following distance longer than the ordinary three seconds. The posted limit is a maximum, not a safe-speed guarantee in poor conditions. Leave cruise control off on wet or slippery roads.
