Passing target: 20 correct signs and 20 correct rules
After setting your seat for a supported driving position, how should you adjust the head restraint?
An upright, belted adult sits in a stationary car seat with an adjustable head restraint behind the head.
Correct answer: Raise or lower it so its top is level with the top of your head.
Why
Adjust the head restraint for the person in the seat. Its pad should support behind the head, and its top should not be lower than the top of the head. SGI's seating checklist sets the top edges level. A correctly adjusted restraint helps reduce the risk of a neck injury when a collision moves the body relative to the head. Check it as part of setting your driving position before moving off.
