Freeways & High-Speed RoadsStandalone practice
You drive on an interstate a little slower than most other traffic. There are two lanes in your direction. Which lane should you use?
Two same-direction interstate lanes are empty, with matching directional arrows and a broken white separator. The card gives the learner’s slower speed; no vehicle is placed in a preferred lane.
Correct answer: The right lane, and move to the left lane only when you pass a vehicle.
Why
Avoid lane changes that you do not need, and keep pace with traffic within the speed limit. SDCL 32-26-1 also requires slow vehicles to keep as close as practical to the right edge of the road.
