You drive a car with an air bag in the steering wheel. Where does the manual say to place your hands on the wheel?
A neutral front-view steering-wheel diagram shows the rim and center hub. There are no hands, position dots, clock numerals or preferred grip before the answer.
Correct answer: About 9 and 3 o'clock, on opposite sides, with thumbs along the rim.
Why
Grip the wheel firmly but gently with your fingers, and never steer by holding the inside of the rim. For sharp turns, use the hand-over-hand method, and straighten the wheel by hand after the turn. Never turn the ignition to the lock position while the car moves.
