At night you follow another car on an unlit highway with your high beams on. Within what distance behind that car must you switch to low beams?
Correct answer: Within 300 feet of the car ahead
Why
High beams from behind reflect off the mirrors of the car ahead and can dazzle its driver. Texas law does not allow high beams when you approach a vehicle from the rear within 300 feet, and the manual tells you to use low beams when you follow within that distance. Always dim behind a large truck at night, because its big side mirrors send much of the light back to the driver.
