Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
A police car with flashing blue lights signals you to stop. You pull over safely at the right side of the road. What should you do next?
Correct answer: Stay in the car, belt on and hands visible, until the officer speaks to you.
Why
Vermont law requires you to stop promptly and carefully when an officer signals you, and to show your license and registration when asked. Move as far right as is safe, but not in an intersection or the median of a divided highway. Stay in the vehicle, keep your seat belt on, limit your movements and those of passengers, and at night turn on the interior light after you stop.
