While you parallel park on a city street, you dent the door of a parked car that has no one in it. You look for the owner but cannot find anyone. What must you do?
Correct answer: Leave a note in or on the car with your name, address and phone number.
Why
After any crash, the law expects the drivers to identify themselves. When the other driver is present, give your name, address, license number and the name of your car's owner, and get the same details from the other driver. If a person is injured or the total damage is $3,000 or more, you must also send a written crash report to the DMV within 72 hours. Write down where and when the crash happened while you still remember it.
