Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You drive toward a red eight-sided sign with the white word STOP. A white stop line crosses your lane, and a marked crosswalk is a few feet past it. Where must you stop?
Blue car A approaches from the left. A white line crosses its lane before a striped crosswalk and the crossing street; a red STOP sign stands beside the approach.
Correct answer: Before the stop line, then yield and go only when it is safe
Why
The STOP sign is the only sign with eight sides, so you can know it by its shape when snow or dirt covers the word. An intersection can have a crosswalk with no painted lines. If there is no stop line, stop before that crosswalk area, or before the cross road if there is no crosswalk.
