You are in the acceleration lane of an interstate. Traffic in the right lane is heavy, and your lane is about to end. You still see no safe gap. What should you do?
A approaches the end of an acceleration lane with heavy traffic in the adjacent right lane.
Correct answer: Slow down, and stop before the lane ends if you must, until a gap opens
Why
Most of the time, you can use the acceleration lane to get near the speed of traffic and merge into a gap. When traffic is heavy, the duty to yield still applies at the end of the lane. Before you merge, signal, check your mirrors and look over your shoulder for vehicles in your blind spot.
