A school bus has stopped with its red lights flashing to let children off. In which case may a driver continue without stopping?
Four equally sized diagrams show a four-lane undivided road, school parking lot, Interstate and private road. Each has an oncoming stopped bus with red warning lights, and none is selected.
Correct answer: On an Interstate, the bus is stopped on the opposite roadway across the median.
Why
The exception exists because children from a bus on the far roadway of an Interstate may not walk across the lanes that you use. On every other road, stop before you reach the bus from either direction, even on a wide road with several lanes. If you are not sure that the exception applies, stop.
