Safe & Responsible DrivingStandalone practice
During a night drive, you keep yawning, your eyelids feel heavy, and you cannot remember the last few miles. What is the best thing to do?
Correct answer: Pull off at a safe place soon and take a short nap, or let a rested driver drive.
Why
Drowsiness slows your reactions and can make you fall asleep at the wheel; after about 18 hours awake, driving skills can be like those of an impaired driver. The best cure is sleep: pull over in a safe place, where a nap of 10 to 20 minutes can make a big difference. On long trips, take a rest break of about 10 minutes at least every two hours, and change drivers when one driver gets tired.
