While you park at night, you scrape the side of a parked car. No one is in it, and you cannot find the owner nearby. What must you do?
Correct answer: Leave a written note in plain view on that car with your name, address and what happened.
Why
West Virginia law requires you to stop at once after you hit an unattended vehicle. Then find and tell the owner or driver, or leave a written notice in a place where it will be seen. The notice gives the name and address of the driver and of the owner of the car that hit it, and what happened; the handbook also lists your license plate number and insurance information. If the damage looks like $1,000 or more, also notify the police at once.
