May an open alcoholic-beverage container ordinarily be kept in the passenger area of a moving vehicle on a highway?
Correct answer: No; it belongs outside the passenger area, such as the trunk.
Why
Keep an open alcohol container out of the passenger compartment. AS 28.35.029 permits transport in the trunk or, in a similar trunkless vehicle, behind the last upright seat and enclosed in another container. A glove compartment accessible to an occupant still counts as the passenger compartment. Other narrow exceptions include a solid partition or specified paid passenger transport.
