At what distance must you have dimmed high beams when meeting an approaching motor vehicle in B.C.?
Two vehicles approach from opposite directions in a small road overview. A separate enlarged vehicle detail appears below, labelled not to scale.
Correct answer: By the time it is within 150 metres
Why
Dim high beams before an approaching vehicle is within 150 metres. ICBC also gives 150 metres when following; the regulation has a narrow exception after you have overtaken and passed so the high beam cannot strike or reflect into the other driver's eyes. Be courteous and dim early.
