From October 19, 2026, what minimum safe novice-driving periods does ICBC specify for a Driving Record Assessment?
Correct answer: Under 25: 24 months, or 18 with approved GLP training; 25 or older: 12 months
Why
From October 19, 2026, ICBC requires at least 24 months of safe novice driving if you are under 25, or 18 months after a qualifying approved GLP course completed during the learner phase. At age 25 or older, the period is at least 12 months. The period must be free of prohibitions, suspensions and convictions for excessive speed or electronic-device use. Simply reaching the calendar date is not enough to qualify.
