Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
When is backing a vehicle lawful?
Correct answer: Only when it is safe and does not interfere with traffic.
Why
Back only when you can do so safely and without interfering with other traffic. Do not back on the roadway or shoulder of a controlled-access highway. Hazard lights and a backup camera do not create permission to reverse there. If you miss an exit, continue to another lawful route.
