On an ordinary road approach with enough distance available before your turn, how far must a Delaware driver signal continuously?
Blue car A approaches an ordinary right turn on a two-way road. An enlarged detail identifies its right turn signal. Schematic: approach compressed and car enlarged. Opposing traffic lanes have two solid yellow lines.
Correct answer: At least the last 300 feet, but not over one-half mile.
Why
Signal continuously for at least the last 300 feet before turning, but do not begin the signal more than one-half mile before the turn. Use the correct turn signal and still check that the movement is safe. A signal communicates your intention; it does not grant priority.
