Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You park uphill at the right edge of a road with no curb. Which wheel position is safest?
Car A faces uphill on a rural road with no curb. It is parked on the right shoulder, outside the traveled roadway. The front wheels have not yet been set. Opposing traffic lanes have two solid yellow lines.
Correct answer: Turn the front wheels toward the edge of the road.
Why
Without a curb, turn the front wheels toward the road edge. Set the parking brake and use Park or an appropriate manual gear. This aims any roll away from traffic; it differs from uphill parking with a curb.
