You approach a stopped emergency, service, or disabled vehicle displaying the warning required by Florida's Move Over Law. What should you do?
A blue car approaches a black-and-white police SUV stopped on the paved right shoulder with red and blue warning lights flashing. Two same-direction travel lanes are visible on this side of the divided highway.
Correct answer: Move over if safe; if not, slow to 20 mph below the limit.
Why
Move out of the nearest lane when safe on a road with at least two lanes in your direction. If you cannot, or on a two-lane road, reduce to 20 mph below a posted limit of 25 mph or more, or travel at 5 mph where the limit is 20 mph or less. Covered vehicles include specified emergency/service vehicles and disabled vehicles with warnings, flares/signage or a person visibly present. Follow any different police direction.
