Passing target: 15 correct signs and 15 correct rules
A child under 8 rides in an ordinary passenger car, and no child-restraint exemption applies. How must the driver secure the child?
Correct answer: In a federally approved restraint that fits the child's size.
Why
Use a federally compliant child restraint or booster appropriate to the child’s height and weight, properly installed and used. The child normally rides in a rear seat. Georgia has specific height, limited belt-availability and vehicle exceptions; do not assume that one applies. The height exception still requires a safety belt, and permitted front-seat placement still requires the proper restraint. The separate height and rear-seat lessons explain those conditions.
