Weather, Visibility & EmergenciesStandalone practice
Your vehicle’s rear begins to skid sideways on a slippery road. What should you do?
A blue sedan is yawed slightly toward the upper right on a wet two-way road, with its rear displaced toward the near side.
Correct answer: Steer smoothly in the direction the rear is sliding
Why
Ease off the accelerator and avoid abrupt braking. Steer smoothly in the direction the rear is sliding to regain alignment, then straighten as traction returns. Avoid a large sudden steering correction, which can start a skid in the opposite direction. If braking caused the skid, release the brake pressure that locked the wheels.
