Parking, Reversing & Roadside StopsStandalone practice
You want to park beside a fire hydrant while you visit a shop. What minimum clearance must you leave?
A fire hydrant stands on the sidewalk beside an empty two-way roadway. The card asks for the required parking clearance. No parked vehicle or measured gap is shown.
Correct answer: No closer than 15 feet
Why
Keep at least 15 feet from the hydrant for ordinary parking. Remaining in the car does not make ordinary waiting or parking lawful within that distance. The statute separately permits momentary passenger pickup or discharge, and an officer or traffic control may direct otherwise.
