Which minimum liability limits apply to an ordinary Illinois personal auto policy?
Correct answer: $25,000 per person / $50,000 per crash for bodily injury or death / $20,000 for property damage.
Why
Ordinary Illinois liability coverage must provide at least $25,000 for injury or death of one person, $50,000 for injury or death of two or more people in a crash, and $20,000 for another person’s property damage. These are minimum liability limits, not a promise to pay for all damage or for your own car. Other vehicle classes can require more.
