Your car develops a problem on an expressway but can still move. What is the safest immediate plan?
Blue car A can still move after a breakdown on a highway. A clear paved shoulder is available beside the travel lane.
Correct answer: Pull off the road to a safe place and turn on hazard flashers.
Why
Move out of the travel lanes to the right shoulder or another safe location as far from passing traffic as possible, and switch on hazard lights. Once safely stopped, stay belted inside and call for help unless an immediate danger makes it unsafe to remain. Do not walk along the expressway.
