You have ample space to make a planned stop on an icy road. How should you begin braking?
Correct answer: Brake early and gently to keep traction and steering.
Why
For a planned stop on ice, reduce speed early and use gentle inputs to preserve traction. Allow much more stopping space. This does not replace the firm, continuous pedal pressure used when ABS activates during an emergency stop.
