Passing target: 20/25 correct (TLA practice target)
An authorized emergency vehicle approaches from behind using its siren and flashing emergency lights. You can safely reach the right edge beyond the intersection. What should you do?
On an ordinary two-way road, a white-and-blue box ambulance approaches behind blue car with red warning lights flashing and its siren sounding. The roadway edge to the blue car’s right is clear.
Correct answer: Move to the right edge clear of the intersection and stop until it passes.
Why
Yield, move parallel and as close as possible to the right edge or curb clear of the intersection, then stop until the emergency vehicle passes. Follow a police officer’s different directions if given. The legal trigger can be a qualifying emergency light or an audible emergency signal; it does not always require both.
