Passing target: 20/25 correct (TLA practice target)
What is the proper use of a center lane marked with alternating left-turn arrows for both directions?
A three-lane two-way road has an empty shared center lane. Solid yellow lines are outside, beside the through lanes; broken yellow lines are inside, beside the shared lane. Opposite white left-turn arrows mark the shared lane. Blue A faces east and silver B faces west in their own through lanes.
Correct answer: Enter it only to prepare for a left turn.
Why
The center lane serves left turns from either direction. Enter it only for the intended turn, watch for a vehicle approaching in the same shared lane and yield as required. It is not a through lane, passing lane or place to accelerate into through traffic.
