How much lateral clearance must a Louisiana driver leave when overtaking a bicyclist traveling in the same direction?
An unlabelled blue car passes an unlabelled bicyclist in the same direction. A dashed white lane line separates them. The question gives no numeric side-clearance value.
Correct answer: At least 3 feet, until safely clear of the bicycle.
Why
Pass a bicyclist to the left with at least three feet of clearance and do not return right until safely clear. A bicycle may be passed in a no-passing zone only when the pass itself can be completed safely.
