A center lane is bordered on both sides by a solid yellow line beside a broken yellow line, with alternating left-turn arrows. How may a driver use it?
A three-lane two-way road has an empty shared center lane. Solid yellow lines are outside, beside the through lanes; broken yellow lines are inside, beside the shared lane. Opposite white left-turn arrows mark the shared lane. Blue A faces east and silver B faces west in their own through lanes.
Correct answer: Turn left or U-turn from it, driving no more than 200 feet in it.
Why
A designated two-way left-turn lane serves left turns to and from connections on both sides and permitted U-turns. Do not use it as a through or passing lane. Louisiana limits travel in it to 200 feet while leaving for a left turn or U-turn, entering and merging, or reaching a dedicated left-turn lane. Yield as required and obey any sign or signal restricting the maneuver.
