Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
During a permitted pass on a two-way road, the Massachusetts handbook says you must be back in the right lane before an oncoming vehicle comes too close. What is the minimum distance to that vehicle?
Correct answer: 200 feet.
Why
Plan the complete pass before moving left and return before an oncoming vehicle comes within 200 feet. Leave ample clearance ahead of the vehicle you passed; the handbook says to wait at least until its headlights are visible in your mirror. A mirror view or distance figure alone does not prove that a pass is safe.
