What should a driver check about the tires before travel?
Correct answer: Proper inflation plus signs of damage or excessive wear.
Why
Check correct inflation, usable tread and visible damage or unusual wear. Use the pressure recommended on the vehicle placard or in the owner's manual, checked when the tires are cold. NHTSA describes cold as not driven for at least three hours. Correct pressure and tread support braking, steering and resistance to hydroplaning.
