Passing target: 8 correct signs and 24 correct rules (TLA practice targets)
You are stopped on a two-way road facing red and want to turn left into a one-way road whose traffic travels in that direction. No traffic-control device prohibits the turn. What is permitted when all conflicts are clear?
At a T junction, the horizontal one-way street carries traffic to the left. The lower street has two directions separated by double yellow lines. Blue A faces north in the right-hand approach lane, stopped before its line and crosswalk. A’s circular signal is red.
Correct answer: A cautious left turn after the required stop and yielding.
Why
Michigan permits a stopped driver to turn left from a one-way or two-way street into a qualifying one-way street, unless a traffic-control device prohibits the turn. Yield to pedestrians, bicyclists and traffic lawfully using the intersection. This is not a general left-on-red permission into two-way traffic.
