Intersections & Right-of-WayStandalone practice
Your light is green. Just past the intersection, traffic is stopped, and there is no room for your car on the far side. What should you do?
A approaches a green light. Cars beyond the junction occupy the receiving lane; no route or waiting point is selected.
Correct answer: Wait at the stop line until there is room for your car past the intersection
Why
A car that stops inside an intersection blocks cross traffic and can cause gridlock. The rule has exceptions: you may enter when an officer or a traffic-control agent directs you, to make room for an emergency vehicle, or to make a turn that lets you leave the intersection safely.

You want to cross a four-lane divided highway and go straight. What is the correct way?Your light is a circular green. You pulled into the intersection to wait for a gap so you can turn left, but oncoming cars keep coming. The light turns yellow and then red, and the oncoming cars stop. What should you do?You come to a corner with sidewalks, but with no traffic signal and no painted crosswalk. A pedestrian starts to cross your street from the far side. The pedestrian is now in the opposite lane and walks toward your lane. What must you do?You drive on a four-lane street. A power outage has turned off the traffic signal at the next intersection: no lights show in any direction, and no officer directs traffic. A car on the two-lane cross street, to your right, reaches the intersection at about the same time as you. What should you do?Your light is green, and you want to turn right. A pedestrian with a WALK signal is in the crosswalk of the street that you will enter. What should you do?
