You are driving on a two-way road. A fire truck with flashing red lights and a siren comes up behind you, and you can hear more sirens farther back. What should you do?
A travels in its lane on a two-way road with a fire truck approaching from behind. The factual card identifies the lights, siren and additional sirens farther back.
Correct answer: Pull to the right edge, stop, and stay stopped until all of the emergency vehicles have passed
Why
This rule applies when an emergency vehicle shows flashing red lights and sounds a siren. On a one-way road, move to the nearest edge instead and stop. If you are already in an intersection, drive through it before you stop. You do not have to stop when a barrier or a median separates the emergency vehicle from your side of the road.
