Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
You drive on a two-lane highway with one lane in each direction. The posted limit is 55 mph. You make a lawful pass of a slower car. What is the highest speed that you may use during the pass?
Correct answer: 65 mph
Why
The extra 10 mph lets you finish a pass sooner and spend less time in the oncoming lane. It does not apply on roads with two or more lanes in your direction, or where the limit is below 55 mph. Go back to the posted limit when you are back in your lane.
