Vehicle Safety, Documents & TowingStandalone practice
You drive a sedan with a working seat belt at every seat. Your 30-year-old friend gets into the back seat and says that adults in the back do not need to buckle up. What is the rule?
Correct answer: Your friend must buckle up, because the law covers the driver and all passengers, front and back.
Why
Seat belts keep people inside the vehicle in a crash, and people who are thrown out are likely to die or be badly hurt. Wear the lap belt low across the hips or upper thighs and the shoulder belt across the chest and the middle of the shoulder. A passenger age 15 or older can get a fine for not wearing a belt, and the driver can get a fine for each passenger under 15 who is not buckled.
