Passing target: 24/30 correct (TLA practice target)
What does a broken yellow center line normally separate?
Blue A follows silver B in one lane of a two-way road. A broken yellow line separates their lane from the empty opposing lane.
Correct answer: Opposing traffic; passing may be lawful when safe.
Why
Yellow center lines separate opposing flows; a broken segment permits consideration of a pass but never guarantees a safe opening. Crossing the center line puts your vehicle into the path used by oncoming traffic. Signs, visibility, intersection restrictions and the space needed to return still govern whether a pass is legal and safe.
