Turns, Lanes, Passing & MergingStandalone practice
Using the driver's left arm, which signal communicates a left turn?
Three left-arm signals are shown from behind: an arm extended horizontally, an upward forearm and a downward forearm. The drawings are numbered 1, 2 and 3.
Correct answer: Extend the left arm straight out.
Why
A straight-out left arm communicates a left turn when hand signals are used. Keep the arm straight out so other road users can distinguish it from an upward forearm for a right turn or a downward forearm for slowing. Check traffic before making the movement; the signal does not give priority.
