Regulatory, Lane & Parking SignsStandalone practice
You come to this sign at a quiet intersection. You can see no vehicles or people anywhere near. What must you do?

Correct answer: Come to a full stop, look both ways, and go on when it is safe
Why
Stop at the stop line if there is one. If there is no line, stop before the crosswalk, and if there is neither, stop at the point nearest the cross road where you can see approaching traffic. After the stop, yield to vehicles already in the intersection or close enough to be a hazard. The eight-sided shape is used only for STOP, so you can know the sign even when snow or dirt covers the word.
