What does Missouri law require for the brakes on an ordinary passenger car?
Correct answer: Two sets of adequate brakes, such as the foot brake and parking brake, both working.
Why
The second set of brakes matters most in an emergency: if the foot brake fails, the guide tells you to apply the parking brake gradually. Brakes are checked in Missouri's safety inspection, and the examiner will not give a driving test in a vehicle without two working brake sets. A motorcycle needs only one adequate set.
