You check your tires before a trip. Under Nebraska law, at what tread depth does a tire become unsafe to use?
Correct answer: Less than 2/32 of an inch.
Why
Tread grooves move water away from the tire so that it can grip the road, and worn tires lose grip quickly in rain and snow. The manual suggests the penny test: put Lincoln's head into a groove where the tread looks lowest, and if the tread covers part of his head, the depth is still safe. Check your tires for wear and damage once a month and before long trips.
