You see an orange diamond sign that reads ROAD WORK 1000 FT in black letters. What should you do?

Correct answer: Stay alert and be ready to slow or change lanes as signs direct
Why
Black-on-orange signs are used only for work zones. Inside the zone, lanes can be narrow and there may be no room to escape, so keep a steady speed, move away from workers and be ready to stop. On state highways, a posted work-zone speed limit is a legal limit, and Nebraska doubles speeding fines when workers are present. Barricades, drums and cones guide you through the zone.
