You are driving your 14-month-old niece in a car that has a front passenger air bag and a back seat. How should she ride?
Correct answer: In a rear-facing child seat in the back seat.
Why
Nebraska law requires children to ride rear-facing until age two, or until they outgrow the maker's height or weight limit for the seat, and children under eight must use a back seat when one is equipped and available. A front air bag opens with enough force to seriously injure an infant in a rear-facing seat placed in front of it. The manual also advises that children 12 and younger ride in the back seat for the best protection.
