Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You drive on a street with two lanes going your way. A broken white line separates them, and the lane to your left is clear. What may you do?
A travels in the right of two same-direction lanes separated by a broken white line. The left lane is empty.
Correct answer: Change lanes when safe, after you signal and check your mirrors and blind spot.
Why
White lane lines separate traffic that moves in the same direction; yellow lines separate opposite directions. When the white line is broken, lane changes are allowed, but Nevada law requires you to stay within one lane and to leave it only after a signal and a check that the move is safe (NRS 484B.223). A dotted white line can extend a lane through an intersection or mark an exit-only lane on a freeway.
