Passing target: 80% (20/25)
You drive on a divided highway with a raised median between the two directions of travel. On the other side of the median, a school bus stops with its red lights flashing. Which drivers must stop for the bus?
Blue A travels north on one roadway while a school bus faces south across a raised, concrete-edged grass median. The bus has red lights and its stop arm out.
Correct answer: Only drivers on the bus's side of the median; you may continue with care.
Why
The handbook states the same exception: on a divided highway, you stop only when you travel in the same direction as the school bus. A divided highway has a barrier or a built median that separates the two directions. A painted center line or a center turn lane does not make a road a divided highway, so on such a road, traffic from both directions must stop.
