Passing target: 80% (32/40)
On a two-lane road, a motorcyclist rides in the left part of a wide lane. You want to pass the motorcycle. How must you do it?
A follows motorcycle B on a two-way road. B rides in the left part of their wide lane, leaving open space to its right.
Correct answer: Use the other lane, as you would to pass a car, where passing is legal
Why
Most motorcycles are only about 2 feet wide, but a rider needs the whole lane to steer around hazards and to adjust for wind and the road surface. That is why the law gives a motorcycle the full use of a lane, and no car may squeeze in beside it. While you wait to pass, keep at least a four-second following distance behind the motorcycle.
