Passing target: 80% (32/40)
On a two-lane road with a broken yellow center line, a slow truck is ahead of you. The paved shoulder on its right is wide. How should you pass it?
A follows a slow tractor-trailer on a two-lane road with a broken yellow center line. A broad paved shoulder lies beyond the white edge line to the truck’s right.
Correct answer: On the left, when the oncoming lane is clear far enough ahead to finish the pass
Why
Before you pass, check for oncoming traffic, check your mirrors and blind spot, and signal. Keep passing until you can see the whole front of the vehicle you passed in your rearview mirror, then signal and move back smoothly. The driver being passed must not speed up, and you must be back in your lane before you come within 200 feet of an oncoming vehicle.
