Passing target: 80% (40/50)
Your car stalls on railroad tracks, and you see a train coming toward the crossing. Everyone is out of the car. Which way should you move?
A is stalled across railroad tracks while a train approaches from the left. An adult and child are already outside the car on the near side of the tracks; the card confirms that everyone is out.
Correct answer: Away from the tracks at an angle, toward the direction the train is coming from.
Why
Leave a stalled car on the tracks right away, even if you do not see a train yet. When you are clear, call 911 or the number on the Emergency Notification sign at the crossing so the railroad can warn its trains. If a train is already coming, move away at about a 45-degree angle toward the train, because the crash throws the car and debris forward along the tracks.
