On the morning of your road test, you notice that one of your car's brake lights does not work. Everything else on the car is in good order. What should you expect at the test site?
Correct answer: The examiner can reject the car, so the test will not start in it.
Why
Brake lights warn the driver behind you that you are slowing, and New Jersey law requires them to be kept in good working order. Other common reasons for rejecting a test car include a lit brake warning light, smooth or cut tires, tinted front windows, missing mirrors or seat belts, and no examiner access to the foot or parking brake. Check every light the day before so that your test can go ahead.
